Bob Wood - Riding instruction in the traditional Balanced Seat
Lessons at Triple Creek Farm follow the traditional model from the 1950s and before. The instructor is mounted in order to demonstrate, except with students who are very new and require assistance from the ground. Groups are typically limited to two or three riders. Lesson times are longer than typically found today. Each lesson begins in the arena or round pen, with a specific technical focus appropriate to the individual’s or group’s progress. After the technical portion of the lesson, the lesson moves to the application phase on the cross country course where the day’s concept can be applied and tested in varied footing. Riders progress as slowly or as quickly as their ability, physical conditioning, and desire permit. Effectiveness is emphasized over style, as well as dynamic balance and timing over form. Proper form is the result, not the means to improvement. In other words, we do not yell, “Heels down!” here, but rather guide riders to find for themselves proper balance, flexibility and agility with their horse through structured practical experience.

Family Plan Lessons
If immediate family members wish to purchase lesson packages, private or group, for multiple family members Triple Creek Farm will not require that all the lesson package be purchased immediately. For example, if two siblings or a parent and child wish to take lessons, the family would agree to purchase two lesson packages. One lesson package would be purchased in full at the start of the lessons, and the second package would be purchased at the 5th lesson or 60 days, which ever came first under the Family Plan agreement.
Cross Country Course Group Schooling Session
Cross country schooling sessions are $35 per rider, two hours in length, and offered in groups of 2 to 4 riders. The cost for individual riders schooling alone is $50. This cost includes use of outdoor arena for warm up. Schooling riders are welcome to use the wash facilities, picnic area and other conveniences.
Schooling date reservation fee of $50 per group is required and is non-refundable except when weather conditions require rescheduling.Balanced Seat Video Analysis - Complete Rider & Horse Evaluation
Our Balanced Seat Video Analysis Program offers the rider a unique perspective on their riding technique and on their horse’s performance. Participants in the Video Analysis Program gain expert advise on their riding technique from the traditional Balanced Seat point of view, as well as insight into the potential of their horse. Because the Video Analysis Program is based on the Balanced Seat principle of effectiveness rather than style, it helps the rider discover the practical reasons for any difficulties in accomplishing certain movements. Balanced Seat Video Analysis is a great tool for a rider who feels “plateaued out”, and wants to break through to the next level in their riding. Viewing your riding with the Analysis Program results provides you with the specifics and the priorities that will improve your technique in no-nonsense ways, and promote your horse's progress as well.
Participants in the Video Analysis Program provide a DVD or VHS tape of their riding, up to 20 minutes in length. Participants receive a detailed list of movements, camera angles, and their details that will insure that their video is optimized for the highest benefit during analysis. Balanced Seat Video Analysis Program cost $80.
